Brooklyn RobotWorks presents...
Brooklyn Bumblebee
Version 2
Protects The 2011 Mermaid Parade
Coney Island, Brooklyn USA

Coming Saturday June 18th, 2011
The Coney Island Mermaid Parade
is the largest Art Parade in the U.S.
And it's only in the coolest place on Earth: Brooklyn!
In the foundry at Brooklyn RobotWorks, Peter Kokis
manipulates plastic from trash cans, buckets & containers,
and uses ordinary household & hardware items
- the same common stuff we all have in our kitchens,
bathrooms, junk drawers & closets -
to create detailed exoskeletons of your favorite robots.
Peter then performs as - and becomes - them.
Send your photos of Brooklyn Bumblebee to:
PeterKokis@verizon.net
I'll post them here and complete the five
pages of this website, set to great TF music.
They'll travel the WorldWide Web
for all Earthlings & aliens to see!
Just give me a few weeks after the parade.
Brooklyn Bumblebee weighs 140 lbs. and took 350 hours to build. Seriously.
To learn more about the brave soldier, check out:

You won't believe your eyes!

Some of Brooklyn Bumblebee's more 'interesting' parts:
2 ice scrapers, 2 apple corers, 3 egg slicers, 2 cellphone chargers,
speaker, 4 telephone handsets, 5 doorstops, laundry ball (?), toilet seat
hardware, camping thermos, 2 hair curlers, 2 shoehorns, 2 ice skate blade
guards, 3 contact lense cases, paper towel holder, 2 bath towel holders,
2 toilet paper roll holders, 2 toothbrush holders, 4 sponge holders, ash tray,
2 jar openers, 2 paint can crimpers, dish drain basin parts, 76 velcro straps,
buttons, cotton balls, 2 dumbbells, toilet brush holder (yikes), doorknob
wall guard, cabinet hardware, lots of other ordinary stuff, some hardware
parts that I can't figure out, some 99-cent store stuff, plus
...lots and lots of plastic from trash cans, buckets, food, drink, vitamin
and cleaning product containers...
...and a Camaro front end (ahem)...
This is my art!

Brooklyn Bumblebee has arrived on Earth.
He is on his way to Brooklyn, to Coney Island.
Some perhaps-interesting facts (I hope I'm not boring you):
Of course, I was Brooklyn Optimus Prime in 2010 and Bumblebee v 1
in 2009. This all started as a joke. Constant comments about a
tourist giftshop 'Brooklyn' license plate I wore in 2009 as Bee
gave birth to 'Brooklyn RobotWorks'. See, you never know...
The exoskeleton takes two hours to put on.
I stop eating or drinking by 4PM the day before...for obvious reasons...
I have dumbbells laying on my chest to balance the upper torso.
The helmet's breathing ports are covered up, and I'm wearing 2 prs.
of gloves, 3 prs. of socks, & runner's leggings underneath.
Performing at The Mermaid Parade will be like running a marathon
while carrying someone on my back who has their hands over my
mouth and nose, while hundreds of nuts & bolts jab at me from
every possible angle. And I'm covered in layers of armor and velcro.
It is still the most fun I could ever have. Ever.
I'm probably twice as old as you think I am...so please offer me water.
At the 2011 NY Comic Con @ Javits Center on October 14-16, I am planning
three robots during the three days: Day 1 is Brooklyn Terminator,
Day 2 is Brooklyn Bumblebee, and Day 3 is Brooklyn Ironhide.
Brooklyn Optimus Prime - now at version 6 - is still protecting.
Saturday June 18th, 2011: Parade-day:
I plan to be in the set-up area on W. 21st Street from 1PM - to - Parade
start @ 2PM. All are welcome to come and photograph the artwork.
If it's hot that day, please be patient.
Use your photos any way you wish, as long as it's for good.
Copies of your photos will be greatly appreciated.
You won't be disappointed.
Sunshine-only, of course.
